Chapter 62

Serena was already feeling guilty, and now, staring into Frederick's cold eyes, she freaked out and took a few steps back.

Frederick had just opened his eyes, looking a bit confused. Once he realized he was in a hospital, he snapped back to reality.

"What were you doing just now?" His voice was raspy.

He remembered Serena's hands on his neck. Was she trying to strangle him?

"I was giving you a massage. You've been lying downfor so long, you must be sore, right?" Serena admitted she was a bit flustered at first, but then she calmed down.

Her eyes were filled with emotion. "I've been in this position for a few years, so I know how it feels. That's why I wanted to avoid your wounds and help you relax a bit."

"Really?" Frederick looked at her, trying to figure her out.

He'd faced a lot of danger in his life, so he had a knack for sensing murderous intent. Even though he hadn't opened his eyes just now, he could tell Serena had some dark thoughtstowards him.

"Of course it's true, Frederick. As soon as I heard, I rushed over.I've been taking care of you, but I was so scared. I was really afraid you'd end up like me five years ago,in a coma."

As Serena spoke, tears streamed down her face.

Frederick looked at her pitiful expression and frowned slightly. He had regained some consciousness earlier but couldn't fully wake up.However, he remembered someone carefully wiping his body, especially the special care given to his private parts, which left a deep impression on him.

Frederick's voice softened a bit. "Thank you for your hard work.Once I recover, let's get married."

"But you haven't divorced Charlotte yet. Didn't you say a divorce would affect the stock market?" Serena said, still crying.

She felt Frederick was acting strange. After waking up, he didn't question her about anything or mention his wounds. Instead, he wanted to marry her? This was too unusual.

Frederick frowned deeply and asked incredulously, "I haven't divorced her yet? How is that possible?"

"What? Frederick, did you hurt your head? It's been almost a month since you said you were going to divorce her." Serena was shocked but also felt a surge of joy in her heart.

Frederick had lost his memory due to the explosion? Isn't this a sign that even God was helping her?

"What is today's date?"

"August 29th."

"In my memory, today should be August 6th. What happened to me?"Frederick looked serious. How could he lose twenty days of memory for no reason? "Frederick, can you remember anything now? Do you know where you got injured?" Serena asked tentatively.

Frederick's eyes showed some confusion. "No, how did I get injured?Whenever I try to remember, my head hurts. It's like those twenty days of memory are covered in fog, and I can't see clearly."

Serena was overjoyed! She tried hard to suppress her smile and hugged Frederick.

She comforted him. "If you can't remember, don't try to. Don't force yourself,or your head will hurt, and I'll feel heartbroken."

"Okay." Frederick let Serena hug him. Their bodies were very close, looking particularly intimate.

Just then, Charlotte, holding a thermos, opened the door and saw this scene.

Her hand slipped, and the thermos hit the ground with a loud crash.

Serena jumped but didn't move away. Instead, she snuggled closer into Frederick's armns.

"What are you doing?" Charlotte's voice was sharp, her eyes wide with shock. Frederick's gaze turned icy as he looked at her, "Where have you been? How dare you ask me? As my wife, you weren't here to take care of me,and you still have the nerve to question me? Don't think that just because Grandma supports you, I won't divorce you. Once I recover, we're getting divorced immediately." Charlotte was stunned, staring at Frederick in disbelief. All her efforts felt like they had been for nothing.Just last night, Frederick had been so close to her, talking about investigating Serena's secrets. How could he wake up and forget everything?

"Do you remember what you said last night?" Charlotte asked, her voice trembling.

Frederick replied bluntly, "I only remember bringing the divorce papers to you last night. Other than that, I don't remember anything."

"What? You don't remember anything?" Charlotte felt like she was suffocating. She couldn't believe it.

Serena, still nestled against Frederick, laughed. "Didn't you hear? Frederick doesn't remember anything after asking you for a divorce. So, no matter what tricks you play, you can't delay it any longer."

Charlotte's body shook, and tears streamed down her face. She looked at Frederick with a mix of anger and heartbreak. "You'don't remember anything from last night?"

"Yes, and there's no need to remember. You just need to know that once I recover,we're getting divorced immediately. Now,leave."

Frederick's words were cold and cutting.

Charlotte felt a chill'run through her. She had just decided to forgive him temporarily because of his injury, but now everything had changed. The cold, indifferent Frederick in front of her felt like a stranger. If this was the Frederick she had to deal with, she would leave him without hesitation. Charlotte looked at the two of them on the hospital bed, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "No need to drive me away. Seeing you like this makes me sick. But since you only remember bringing the divorce papers to me.Frederick, did you tell Serena that you had two sets of papers, and one of them was to keep me as your mistress after the divorce?"

"Charlotte!" Frederick's voice was deep and angry, but he couldn't stop her.

Charlotte raised her eyebrows at him, defiant. Earlier, while making porridge, she had been imagining their future together, thinking about how to help him recover. But now, facing this version of him, she only wanted him to suffer.

"Frederick, what does she mean? Do you still want to be with her after marrying me?" Serena's voice was sharp, demanding an explanation.

Frederick couldn't deny it. He looked at Charlotte with fury in his eyes."Why did you have to say that?"

Charlotte wiped her tears away. "Are you afraid to admit what you did?"

With that, she walked out gracefully, without a hint of hesitation.

Frederick watched her leave, a frown on his face, clutching his chest. For some reason, seeing Charlotte walk away felt like his heart was being torn apart. The pain was excruciating.
