Chapter 56

"Serena, take it easy. You're pregnant, you can't be doing this. I'm just worried about you and the baby."

"It's fine,Frederick."

Serena reached out to hold him, lowering her head a bit, and said shyly, "I talked to the doctor. It's actually okay to have sex during pregnancy, even if it gets a bit intense, as long as we're careful."

"So,can you stay tonight?"

Serena looked at Frederick with hopeful eyes.

Frederick, however, looked at her seriously. "Serena, time flies. I don't want you to make any mistakes. Let's be patient, for the baby's sake, okay?"

Frederick's words were half true, but he really didn't want to stay.

He couldn't even remember how that night with Serena had gone.He had no clear memory of it, just that he woke up in bed with her.

Soon after, Serena claimed she was pregnant.

But it wasn't like Frederick hadn't tried. The two times Serena had made a move, he had no interest in her seduction at all, not even an erection without medication.

On the other hand, it was different with Charlotte. Every part of Charlotte's body, even a strand of her hair, could turn him on. "Alright, but you have to promise me you won't go to Charlotte." Serena harbored a deep resentment in her heart. 'Frederick said we should both endure it, but he can go to Charlotte for sex,leaving me to endure alone!

"Okay,I promise."

Frederick said, then gently kissed her on the forehead.

But when Frederick walked out the door, he saw Chalotte standing there,tears streaming down her face.

He instantly turned towards the door with caution. Not seeing Serena follow him out, Frederick hoisted Charlotte onto his shoulder and headed upstairs.

Charlotte pounded on his back, trying to make Frederick put her down.

She felt so foolish now, her heart aching as if it had been ripped out.

She had heard everything they said inside the room. She heard Frederick say he wouldn't divorce because he was worried about the stock market.

And he didn't touch Serena because he was afraid of hurting her and the baby!

What about her?

What did Frederick take her for? Just a tool for relieving his desires?

Frederick kicked the door shut and they both fell onto the bed. "Bastard! Get off me!" Charlotte struggled hard, resisting his touch. "What did you hear just now?" Frederick tried to control Charlotte, not knowing how much she had heard.He was afraid she would misunderstand, as many of his words to Serena were insincere.

"I heard everything! Let go of me!"

"No!"

"Let go!"

"No! Calm down!"

A sharp slap stopped both of them in their tracks.

Charlotte looked at her numb hand in disbelief, then at the clear handprint on Frederick's face.

She had slapped Frederick?

She had been pushed to the limit, but why didn't Frederick dodge?

Frederick used his tongue to push against his cheek, feeling the heat on his left side.

He looked at Charlotte and chuckled. "Does that make you feel better?"

"You deserved it. Why didn't you dodge?"

Charlotte's words were tough, but her tone grew weaker and her voice softer. "Now, can you calm down and listen to me?"Frederick said, tucking her into the blanket and getting in himself,pressing down on her. "What are you doing? Why do you need to talk like this?" Charlotte was startled.

Frederick pressed down on her steadily, rubbing against her deliberately before saying, "I'm afraid someone outside might eavesdrop."

Charlotte quickly realized Frederick was referring to herself.

But thinking about what she had overheard outside the door, her heart couldn't help but ache with bitterness.

"Whatever you have to say, say it quickly. It's suffocating in here."

"No matter what you heard just now, don't believe it. I said all that to keep her calm."

"Frederick! Are you kidding me?"

Charlotte was really angry. "You say one thing in front of Serena and another to me. Your behavior is exceedingly hypocritical!"

She wanted to curse Frederick, but couldn't find the right wvords to describe him.

Frederick suddenly kissed her, sucking on her lips forcefully.

After a long time, he finally let her go.

"Listen to me. If you interrupt me again, I'll kiss you."

"You!" Charlotte wanted to retort, but seeing Frederick about to kiss her again, she could only purse her lips tightly to prevent the rogue from succeeding. She was quite keen to hear what kind of excuses Frederick,that scoundrel,would come up with.

"I'll be honest with you. The reason I asked you about the perfume today.is because when I had someone investigate Serena, they found a photo taken three years ago. In that photo, Serena was awake, but the records show she only woke up a month ago."

"No way! Could it be someone who looks a lot like Serena?"

Charlotte was very surprised, not expecting that what she had him investigate would lead to something else.

"I'm sure it's Serena, but it makes me even more alarmed because it means someone deliberately erased some of Serena's experiences. The only ones capable of doing that are the Percy Family overseas. So I need to keep Serena close and use her to uncover the answers I need."

"The Percy Family overseas? Aren't they the ones who competed with you for the position of the company?"

"Yes, the Percy Family split into two branches, one staying here and the other developing overseas. Every generation, there would be a struggle for the successor. In my generation, the Percy Family overseas almost killed me in a car accident, so I have to be cautious."

Charlotte thought for a moment. "So you suspect that when Serena was sent abroad for treatment, she was turned against us, and now she's here as a spy?" "That's very possible." As Frederick spoke, his hands began to wander. Charlotte was still thinking about what he said and didn't immediately realize his actions were becoming more inappropriate.

By the time Charlotte reacted, her clothes had already been undone by Frederick, her ample chest exposed to him.

"You pervert!"

Charlotte exclaimed, feeling very regretful.

'How could I believe he would be a gentleman? I am too careless!

"A pervert only for you. Don't move."

Frederick was licking her neck, not expecting Charlotte to suddenly knee him in the groin, almost making him fall off.
