Jasper was holding Charlotte's medical record, glancing over it. Without even looking up when she asked her question, he said softly, "Taylor mentioned she had some work at the company. She knew you were here,so she asked me to check on you."

Charlotte felt a bit awkward and had already cursed Taylor in her mínd a few times.

If Taylor couldn't make it, she should've at least given her a heads-up. It really puat her in an uncomfortable spot.

Jasper looked up and noticed Charlotte's discomfort.

He smiled gently, "Don't be embarrassed. Here, we're just doctor and patient; gender doesn't matter."

Hearing Jasper voice her thoughts,Charlotte smiled wryly.

"Guess my awareness isn't high enough."

Jasper didn't linger on the topic. After placing the medical record on the table, he told Charlotte, "The baby's doing great, developing normally. But you, on the other hand, aren't doing so well."

"Your sleep quality is poor, and you're anemic. Your body's so weak that you faint when you get too emotional."

After thinking for a moment, Jasper added, "If you keep neglecting your health, it'll affect the baby eventually. The baby's health is closely tied to yours. You need to keep a good mood for both of you."

Charlotte nodded seriously.

"I get it. I'll definitely take care."

Jasper nodded calmly and then put on his stethoscope.

"Lift your shirt. I'll check you again."

Jasper pressed the stethoscope against Charlotte.

Even though Charlotte felt a bit embarrassed, she complied.

She kept repeating in her mind: I'mthe patient, Jasper's the doctor.

As she lifted her shirt to expose her belly, just about to reveal her underwear, the door suddenly burst open.

Before Charlotte could react, she heard an angry shout, "What are you doing? Get your dirty hands off her!"

Charlotte's hand froze, and she looked towards the door in disbelief, only to see Frederick standing there.

'Is Frederick here to see me?'

At that moment, Serena stepped out from behind Frederick.

Serena gasped dramatically.

Then, in a pitiful tone, she accused, "Dr. Johnson, you refused to treat me because of Charlotte? If I hadn't come here, I wouldn't have known who was causing trouble behind the scenes." Hearing Serena's words, Jasper immediately frowned. "Ms. Brown, you were my patient before, but now I've changed hospitals,and I'm not an obstetrician. I can't treat you." Hearing Jasper say this, Serena immediately pointed at Charlotte.

"Then what's wrong with her? Why can you treat her?"

Charlotte frowned and snapped, "Jasper is my friend. He just came to check on me. Is that a problem?"

"Well, Dr. Johnson and I are also friends. We spent a long time together overseas," Serena retorted, not backing down.

But after saying this,Serena glanced guiltily at Frederick.

She and Frederick were almost at the point of getting married,and arguing with Charlotte about another guy right now was probably not the best move.

But what really threw her off was that Frederick's eyes were glued to Charlotte, completely ignoring her, which made Serena feel even more uneasy.

'Why does Charlotte get all the luck?'

Whether it was the cool, highly educated Jasper who'd just come back from overseas,orFrederick, the rich and successful CEO, both seemed to have a special interest in Charlotte.

What made Charlotte so special?

Frederick's expression was dark as he stared coldly at Charlotte."Can't stand being alone, can you? The moment I'm not around, you find someone else to keep you company."

Charlotte's eyes turned ícy. "Don't be soharsh. Jasper's just examining me.Even if I were lonely, I have my limits. Unlike you, who brings a lover home before even getting a divorce."

Frederick knew she was mocking him, which only fueled his anger.

When Charlotte called earlier, he thought she wanted him to come back.

He didn't expect her to actually be in the hospital.

What he didn't expect even more was that, unable to resist Serena's request,he brought her to find Jasper, only to walk in on this scene.

Calming down, he noticed Jasper holding a stethoscope.

But in his impulsiveness, all he saw was Charlotte lifting her shirt and Jasper reaching out to touch her.

"I don't want to argue here. We'll talk at home."

Frederick spat out the words coldly and turned to leave.

Charlotte mocked, "You told me to find a doctor who could treat me. Now that I have, you're still uncomfortable. Frederick, you're really something."

Frederick's eyes darkened instantly.

You brought me out of a vegetative state,and I trust no one else but you." Jasper's expression remained gentle, but his eyes flashed with coldness.

He said calmly, "I've told you many times, I can't treat you.Please stop bothering me, and don't use your connections to pressure the hospital director. As for Charlotte, she's my friend, and I just came to check on her."

Serena's emotions suddenly seemed to collapse.

"But we've known each other for years. Doesn't that make us friends?"

Seeing Serena's outburst, Charlotte found it odd.

To someone who didn't know the situation, it would seem like Jasper had abandoned Serena because her words were so misleading.

"We're just a regular doctor-patient relationship, nothing more."

Serena clutched her chest, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable.

Her breathing became rapid, and she glared at Charlotte with resentment.

She said to Frederick in a whiny tone, "Frederick, I feel a disturbing discomfort in my heart."
