Chapter 12
Frederick could tell what Serena was up to right away and let out a silent sigh.
He wasn't into Serena at the moment, and with her being in the risky months of pregnancy, they had to keep things cool.
"Serena, cut it out. Turn on the light."
Frederick felt a bit annoyed but still spoke to Serena gently.
Seeing he didn't push her away right away, Serena got bolder.
She swayed her hips and straddled him.
Frederick's body went rigid. He wanted to push her off but didn't want to hurt her or the baby.
"What are you doing? Get down."
Frederick's voice had a serious edge to it.
Serena's tears started falling on Frederick's chest.
She buried her face in his neck and said weakly, "Do you hate me? Or do you regret it and don't want to marry me?"
"How could that be?" Frederick didn't expect her to be so sensitive and tried to comfort her,"Don't worry, no matter whose baby it is... I'll take responsibility."Even with Frederick's promise, Serena didn't give up. She started pulling down her slip dress. If the room wasn't so dim,Frederick would have seen everything.
"Frederick, I want to really be your woman. Can you..."
Frederick raised his hand to stop her and gently moved her off his lap.
He began unbuttoning his shirt, which gave Serena hope again.
But to her surprise, Frederick took it off and wrapped it around her like a cocoon.
"Frederick?" Serena couldn't believe it.
Logically, Frederick had been abstinent for days. With her throwing herself at him,how could he resist?
Was she not attractive enough?
"Serena, I haven't sorted out my marriage yet, and you're still pregnant. We have plenty of time. Don't rush."
Frederick cajoled Serena back to her bedroom.
To avoid Serena throwing herself at him again, Frederick changed his clothes and headed back to the office to work overtime.
Halfway there, he got a call from his buddy Gavin Smith.
When he got to the bar, Gavin was already there. "What's up?"
"Charlotte's in a VIP room. I couldn't get in. Don't lose your cool when you see her," Gavin advised."What?" Frederick asked, not slowing down. "Get to the point." Frederick frowned. He was in a bad mood and didn't want to waste time.
"I saw Charlotte in the next private room! Did you guys havea fight? She's drinking and looks really sad. Do you want to come get her?"
"Where?"
Frederick's frown deepened, and he didn't waste any words.
After Gavin told him the location, Frederick turned the car around and floored it. His car sped through traffic like a bolt of lightning.
Frederick was furious.
He couldn't understand why Charlotte would be in such a place at this time.
And she was drunk!
If Gavin hadn't spotted Charlotte today,if he hadn't told him... If Charlotte got drunk and someone took advantage of her...
The thought of that made Frederick's blood run cold.
"Is she crazy?"
Frederick floored the gas pedal, but it still felt too slowv. He wished he could sprout wings and fly, anything to get there faster. Gavin thought about what he'd seen and could only worry for Charlotte.
"Uh... you'd better see for yourself," Gavin said, unable to describe it.
Frederick was led to Charlotte's room. The attendant at the door saw Frederick storming towards him with anger and stepped forward.
"Sir, this is a VIP room. You can't go in..."
But before the attendant could finish, Frederick shoved him aside, sending him stumbling backward.
He pushed past anyone in his way and kicked open the door.
Gavin followed and then covered his eyes in despair.
Charlotte had gone too far.
She was already drunk, shaking dice in her hand. As Frederick barged in,she opened the dice cup and laughed excitedly, then sedúctively pulled the boy next to her.
"Take your clothes off! You lost! Hurry up and take it off!" she said with sultry eyes.
Seeing this, Frederick's anger boiled over.
He grabbed Charlotte's wrist roughly. All she remembered was that she came out to have fun!She stumbled and fell into a strong, familiar embrace. "Why aren't you taking off your clothes?" she mumbled, reaching to touch Frederick yanked Charlotte off the sofa, wanting to take her away immediately, fearing he mnight lose control and do something he'd regret. "Who are you? Let her go,or I'll call security!" the gigolo grabbed Charlotte's other arm.
Frederick stared at him, his gaze icy.
"If you don't want to die, let go of her."
Frederick threatened.
Gavin, seeing how angry Frederick was and fearing he might actually hurt the gigolo, quickly stepped in.
He pointed at the gigolo and loudly said, "Get out. Mr. Percy can crush you like an ant."
"Percy..."
Hearing the surname, the gigolo's heavily made-up face turned even paler.
He glanced at Frederick, knowing he couldn't win, and cowardly let go of Charlotte.
After the gigolo slunk away, Gavin tactfully exited as well, guarding the door for Frederick.
Charlotte was too drunk to know what was going on.
The muasic was blaring, and she vaguely heard arguing but couldn't make out what it was about. Frederick's chest but finding he was still dressed.
